The instance on your free tier program is free for 1 year after which point it converts to regular value.

Please keep in mind that instances, regardless of their state or usage, continue to reserve dedicated system resources (RAM, SSD storage, IP aliases, CPU) and therefore incur charges until you destroy the instance.

If you wish to stop accumulating charges for a virtual machine, please use the DESTROY button in the customer portal. Once completed your account will no longer accumulate charges.

Steps to Destroy:
1. From the Instances tab, click on the instance you wish to destroy
2. In the top right of the following page, click the trash can icon
3. Check the box 'Yes destroy the server' then click Destroy Server.
